Why a Teen Therapy Group Might Be Exactly What Your Child Needs
Connection. Confidence. Coping skills.
Adolescence is a time of intense growth, transformation, and—often—emotional turbulence. Between academic pressure, social shifts, family changes, and the internal tug-of-war of identity development, many teens feel overwhelmed, anxious, or simply alone.
While individual therapy is a powerful tool, group therapy offers a unique and deeply impactful space for teens to feel seen, supported, and empowered.
At Juniper & Jade Psychotherapy, we offer teen therapy groups designed with empathy, intention, and clinical care. Here are a few reasons group therapy can be so beneficial:
🌿 1. A Sense of Belonging
Many teens believe they’re the only ones feeling anxious, self-conscious, or uncertain. In group therapy, they quickly discover they’re not alone. Sharing experiences with peers who “get it” helps dissolve shame and fosters a powerful sense of connection.
🌿 2. Social and Emotional Skills
Group sessions are a live, guided opportunity to practice emotional expression, listening, boundary-setting, and perspective-taking—all in a safe, therapist-facilitated environment. These skills are essential both in and out of the therapy space.
🌿 3. Positive Peer Support
Group members often become each other’s cheerleaders, encouraging growth, celebrating vulnerability, and offering real-time empathy. This is especially valuable for teens who may struggle with friendships or self-esteem.
🌿 4. Creative Exploration and Resilience Building
Our groups incorporate creative activities alongside discussion—giving teens new ways to explore identity, process feelings, and build tools they can use in everyday life.
A Safe Space for Growth
Our Girls’ Community Groups at Juniper & Jade Psychotherapy are open to middle and high school girls, female-identifying, and nonbinary youth. These weekly sessions are welcoming, trauma-informed, and rooted in emotional safety.
If your teen is struggling—or simply needs more connection and support—group therapy might be a meaningful next step.
