Child & Adolescent Therapy (Ages 5-12)

Young children are full of big emotions. Sometime they need a little help understanding their emotions and then learning what to do with them. I work with children of all ages in my practice and I help them with problems of all sorts. Just as in any type of therapy it’s important to find a therapist who connects with your child and who you also trust. I want to learn as much as I can from you about your child before we meet and then I’ll need a few sessions to get to know your child and form my own impressions about what’s going on and how to be most helpful.

Here are some of the issues I commonly treat in children:

  • Anxiety – generalized anxiety (i.e. worried about all sorts of things), specific fears
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • Family Problems
  • Loss
  • Emotion Regulation difficulties (i.e. strong feelings that the child has difficulty modulating)

I use a variety of different approaches in my work with children including the following:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Family Systems Therapy
  • Art Therapy
  • Attachment Based Therapy
